Here are few steps you can take to start controlling your sugar craving
1) Read labels. Check how much sugar you are consuming. Recommendations for adult women is to eat only 5 teaspoons (20 grams) of sugar a day; for adult men it’s 9 teaspoons (36 grams), and for children it’s only 3 teaspoons (12 grams). To put this in perspective, one 330ml can of Coke contains 39 grams of sugar; that is 8 teaspoons of sugar!
2) Eliminate foods that contain high-fructose corn syrup. Most of the sugar in our processed foods comes in the form of high-fructose corn syrup, which is much sweeter than regular corn syrup. Many experts recommend you eliminate this food additive completely because it more easily turns into fat and stimulates the appetite.
3) Drink fewer sweetened beverages. This includes sports drinks and juices.
I have cut back sugar in my diet, and I noticed some very positive changes in my body and my weight. And the longer I stayed away from it, the less I craved it.
